We helped YewMaker build the Medicine Carbon Footprint Formulary. A web application that allows healthcare professionals to compare the carbon footprints of commonly prescribed medicines.
The story
YewMaker wanted to turn a concept and prototype into an accessible, end-to-end product to be showcased to the NHS within a year. It had to be easy-to-use while following complex medical data models and designed to be scaled to other markets in the future.
Think-it’s role
We worked with the team to prioritize resources and built a tool that is attractive for wide-scale use throughout the NHS and beyond. The first product needed to be immediately marketable, but also designed to be scalable and extensible for future product growth. Our approach focused on iterative development, incorporating user feedback at each stage to ensure the product met the needs of healthcare professionals.
Why it mattered
Medicines account for a quarter of the carbon footprint of the NHS but the carbon footprint of a large majority are unknown. This work gives healthcare professionals the opportunity to compare carbon footprints of over 4000 commonly prescribed medicine products in an accessible format.
