Deliver a totally redesigned app
Think-it worked to achieve a complete visual refresh and unification of all UI elements across both iOS and Android.
The story
Our team was tasked with transforming the entire mobile app interface by building a new design system from the ground up. This design system would eventually be the backbone for a complete redesign and reconstruction of the app screens.
One major challenge was ensuring the new design system integrated seamlessly with the existing app architecture, while also meeting the evolving expectations of SoundCloud users. Furthermore, all components needed to be thoroughly tested and ready for large-scale implementation.
Think-it’s role
Unlike other projects where collaboration might be limited to a single feature team, we worked across the entire app, touching all parts of the codebase. This required close coordination with every feature team, making the project both a comprehensive and cross-functional effort. The project required a blend of creativity and technical precision as we translated the design system established in Figma into a robust, scalable component library.
Why it mattered
This was SoundCloud’s first-ever complete design system, making it a milestone project. The project delivered a revamped user interface offering a better user experience and a modern design. A smooth transition to the new system was achieved using Firebase Remote Config and feature flags. The results were met with exciting user reviews and a positive market echo.
The end result included a separate design system module, fully tested with a sample app for interacting with its components.
